Andy Fit Tip 24 – What are the principles of training?

Today I’m going to be discussing the principles of training.

First and foremost the most important part of your training is progression. You need to be incorporating progressive overload, which I will discuss in another video, however just the basics are; your training needs to become harder over time. This is because your body does adapt to the stress that you’re placing on it and it doesn’t want to grow. Your muscles don’t want to grow, so in order for them to grow, you need to increase the stimulus that you’re placing on them.

Next is periodization. Although progressive overload is important, you can’t train harder week to week to week continuously, you need to incorporate what you call a ‘Deload’ every four to six weeks. A ‘deload’ can involve reducing the training volume or the intensity and order for your body t
